Loved it, Jisoo. "I felt reassured that my happiness didn’t come from elsewhere than from within my own consciousness." -- this, in particular, may be the essence of it all. :)
Jisoo! Sometimes, especially in recent years, I feel this surreal sensation that I’m a person of the past living in the future, not only terms of physical environment, but also in values. When I read your essays it reminds me that I’m not the only one feeling this :’) A voice like yours against the “dystopian mainstream” is so important to be heard! Thank you for sharing
it certainly is surreal! Thank you so much for your comment, I'm so glad to know that I'm not the only one feeling like this. The environment is changing SO fast, I think especially in Asia, and sometimes I feel like everyone is on board with it, no problem, except for me.
maybe people like us need to all move to a remote island or something to enjoy slower values….. then when we come out to the city for trips people will recognise us as we will all be very short xDD
Oof. Enjoyed this beginning to end, Jisoo. Love the structure of being at a meal with your friends and how that typical, quotidian act contrasts so much with the dystopian conversation. I needed your first-person interiority to actually realize how dystopian it all is.
Thank you so much Kat! There are some really surreal stuff happening in reality that i cannot process, that there are times when I feel like my body and my mind are totally separate entities, existing on separate planes, each doing their own things separately. Very bizarre.

Hahah the “old species?”
sounds like the beginnings of a sci-fi novel right here!!

Thank you so much Silvio. That is indeed the essence of it all! :)
